New research highlights that the legal profession is among the most susceptible to suicide risk, mental health concerns, and substance abuse, with lawyers experiencing some of the highest rates of suicide and alcohol abuse. KALAP offers crucial support to lawyers facing these challenges. This program will cover substance abuse, mental health issues, various addictions (e.g., gambling), stress, burnout, aging, and physical health, as well as law practice management. Participants will learn about predictors of suicidal ideation, key risk factors, and relevant research. The program will also explore Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct (KRPC) violations linked to untreated issues and define KALAP’s services for both lawyers and law students.
