As we approach Law Day 2024, we are excited to extend an invitation to you to join us in commemorating this significant occasion by contributing to our community service project. Law Day is annually on May 1st, and the theme is "Voices of Democracy." To honor this theme, we are organizing an initiative to engage with local high schools and foster discussions about the importance of democracy in our society.

We cordially invite you to participate in this project by volunteering to give a short presentation at a local high school on May 1st. The Topeka Bar Association will assist in arranging times for these presentations at each school and will provide you with discussion points to guide your talk.  Your involvement will play a pivotal role in educating and inspiring the next generation about the fundamental principles of democracy.

Furthermore, we encourage those of you who have children attending local schools to broaden your participation in this service project by arranging a time to read to a class or group. On our website, you will find a curated list of suggested books for kids that cover topics related to democracy, which can serve as valuable resources for your reading sessions.

To capture the impact of your contributions, we kindly request that you document your participation with photos and email them to us at tba@topekabar.com. Your photos will help us showcase the meaningful engagement of our members in this worthy endeavor.

In addition to our community service project, we are thrilled to announce that the Topeka Bar Association will be hosting a luncheon on May 3rd, featuring special guest Secretary of State Scott Schwab. This luncheon presents a fantastic opportunity for networking and learning, and we encourage you to register for the event on our website.

Your involvement in both the community service project and the upcoming luncheon will not only enrich our Law Day celebrations but also reaffirm our collective commitment to serving our community and upholding the principles of democracy. If you are interested in participating sign-ups will be on our website or you can reach out to LeTiffany Obozele, Law Day Committee Chair, or Tana Griffith, TBA executive director.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Topeka Bar Association. We look forward to your participation in Law Day 2024 and the many contributions you will make to our community.
